A friend of mine wrote this on his blog:

On the current brouhaha with the Republicans complaining about the recovery plan set forth by Obama.

Republicans were unconcerned with debt when they were running up a 10 trillion dollar debt that Obama inherited.
Republicans did not mind tax cuts that gave some people millions and others hundreds. Those policies never grew the economy just the debt.
They are unconcerned with moral hazard when it applies to CEO's getting many millions for poor performance.
They are unconcerned about pork when it applies to the defense budget.
They are unconcerned about government spending when it is to hand out billions to oil companies that already make billions.
They are unconcerned about free markets when they hand out no bid contracts to their friends.
It seems clear that Republicans just don't like the money train running from the wealthy to the middle class. When you consider who finances and votes Republican, all things become clear. They can cry economics but it is politics and fear that dominates Republican thinking.
I really like this friend, but it is funny because I always thought that he was Republican through and through. I guess people can change. Welcome to the dark side buddy!

I Read This On MSN

There was this article on weight loss and this was one of the DO NOT try diets. This is what it said:

Breatharian Diet

This one takes the cake. (Oh, but only if it did.) It's a diet that promotes living on air alone, no food or water. Hmm. That is pretty contrary to what I learned in undergraduate and graduate school while studying nutrition. I believe our bodies will only survive a few days without water and a few weeks without food.
The mumbo jumbo on this diet is that you align yourself to the universe and you won't need water or food. You know what this sounds like to me? Starvation.

Do people really believe these things? Sounds like a great way to end up in the hospital. I am NOT and never will be that desperate to lose weight.

i love you

to spite what you say
and all that you do
i love you

with all of my heart
and my soul too
i love you

i never cry
but i am dying inside
because i love you

hate is a word
that you've never heard
because i love you

i am going away
after today
because i love you

you take your time
and i will have mine
because i love you

if you want me back
all you have to is ask
because i love you

Do You Ever?

*worry so much that you can't sleep?
*over think something until it barely exists?
*know that there is a decision to be made, and not be able to make it?
*wonder what the other person is thinking?
*just want it to be decided so that you can know?
*think that you love someone more then they love you?
*think that you worry about something way more then is needed?
*just give up the fight because you know that there is no way that you can win?

OR

*sleep through the night regardless
*just keep on going, knowing that it will get better
*look for the light in the situation, despite the darkness
*stop worrying when you know it will not help
*just keep living, breathing, hoping, praying
*figure that they love you more, but do not know how to show it
*realize that everyone is human, and nobody is perfect
*just let it go...

Valentine Poker Party

For Valentine's Day Lewis and I went to go to a poker party with a bunch of friends. Only one of them read this blog so I could totally lie about what happened, and they would never know, but being the good person that I am, I will be honest.
Lewis and I took the bank. Yes!!! Finally. (Well one person won more then me, but it was her house ans she doesn't read my blog, so I will skim over that...) The past 2 times that we have played with them they killed us. (Last month Lewis went ALL IN on the SECOND hand for goodness sakes!! And lost it all!!) I have never played so well in my life. I folded when I should have and bet when I needed to.

Here is Holly and Kyle.
And Connie and Tim.

I do not have pictures of the other couples. I mean, I do but they did not come out very good, so I choose not to show my horrible skills with the camera.
Thanks for the great Valentine's Day!!!

My Attempt at Heart Hair

This is how I did Haley's hair for her Valentine's day party at school on Friday. It is supposed to be a heart and you can actually see it InRealLife. I could not find any ribbons at the time, so it is harder to see. She loved it and then Abigail made me do hers this way on Saturday as well.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Update

I wanted to quickly update about Abigail and her new bed. As you can see she is getting full use of that big, beautiful bed and comforter set that we bought her.

Abigail's New Room

Those of you that frequent this blog will remember this picture. This picture was taken in September 2008. Less then 5 months ago. She has been sleeping this way ever since. She falls out of bed every night and ends up in MY bed keeping me awake. I have been kicked and smacked and snotted on by this little princess, but not anymore.

Now, she sleeps like this.

She told me yesterday, "Mom. This is the best gift that you and Dad ever gived me. Ever." Doesn't she look tiny in that huge bed??

Here is her comforter set. She picked it out... with a little help from me.

I loved the curtains so much that we had to get the bed set that matched them. He-He. I guess we went about the process backwards!

I LOVE the picture below.

Happy sleeping Abigail!!
I guess now that she has the big bed if she still comes into my room at night then I can just go and get into HER bed!!

And I just realized at this very second that my baby is no longer a baby. I thought that this would make me happy, but it makes me a little sad.

M.R.

OH! I totally forgot to add to my last post about Friday afternoon. Duh!! M.R. took my kids home from school, a wonderfully friendly thing to do, and I gave the garage door opener to my daughter Haley. She opened the garage for them to get in and then set the garage door opener on the counter. I got home at 1:45, changed to work out, and left... without the garage door opener and went back to school for Turbo Jam.

Halfway through T.J. Haley decided to go out to the car and get a phone number to call a friend. I thought that it sounded fine. I explained that she needed to prop the door open in the kitchen with a big salsa bottle because if it closed then she would be locked out. She TOTALLY understood, or so she said.

I worked out for about 15 minutes and just as I was getting really worried about her she walks in with tears in her eyes, and her face all puffed out. She had gone down to the car, but went out a different way and had gotten herself locked outside of the school. She proceeded to go from door to door knocking and screaming until a couple of girls heard her and opened the door to let her back inside. I quickly hugged her, told her she was fine, stopped the crying and had her sit down for the last 20 minutes of my workout. Then she felt better.

We picked up Abigail from daycare and drove home and parked in the driveway (I left the garage opener at home, remember???). We walked up to the door and knocked, hoping that Jason would get off of the computer long enough to answer and let us in out of the freezing cold. About 5 minutes of knocking and no answer my phone rings and it was M.R. my WONDERFUL neighbor.
(Dialog may not be exact, but it gets the point across.)

M.R.: "Kendra, are you home?"
K.F.: "Why yes. We just got here and we are knocking on the door because I left the garage door opener inside and I am waiting for Jason to open up for us to go in and Haley is freaking out because she got locked out of the school and is having a hard afternoon, and Abigail is sitting in the driveway eating goldfish." (I did totally run on like that for about 2 to 3 minutes.)
M.R.: "Hmmm. He is here. Jason came up to our house and the kids did not hear him knock because they were in the basement so he walked home and found out that he was locked out. I heard him screaming (from up the road!!!) so I came down and brought him back to my house. He said he was outside for 45 minutes." (Which was probably true because she was at the library that long and I was at the school for an hour.)
K.F.: "$#!^. Now we are all locked out. The door knob is broken and we can't get in."
M.R.: "I'm coming down...."

So she came down and we end up breaking in the back window and shoving Abigail through to open the door for us. Jason came home a while later and he had no shoes or coat. He must have been freezing.

My point? It is always nice to have a good friend that lives on your street to help you break into your house when it is cold outside. Thanks for the memories M.R.!!

My Weekend Fun

I know that I said no posts until I have my camera but this one is important so I do not want to wait and forget all of the fun stuff that I did this weekend.

Thursday I was driving the kids home from school. I was going to take them home and quick-change my clothes and go back for a workout session with the girls. As I looked down and noticed that I had no gas, a did a fast U-turn to go back the half a block to the gas station when the car completely died. Yes, it died. Ran out of gas right in the middle of the road. So 2 people pulled over and helped push me to the side of the road. All I could do was laugh. The kids thought that I was insane. I just laughed and laughed while they got all upset. So I called M.R. and she came right there and got us in about 5 minutes. She took the kids home and brought me back to me car. THANKS!!! (Don't worry this is the only happy ending in this post.)

Okay so I was driving home last night at about 10:00pm and I got pulled over. {I am a very good driver. I have 4 kids and do not drive recklessly. I have never had a accident that was my fault. The one I had an old man crashed into me while he was taking an illegal turn. I have never had points for my license, never had to pay a ticket and never had to go to court.} I was in a round-a-bout (circle) over by the District in South Jordan and he pulled me over IN the circle for (get this) not having my blinker on IN the circle. Are you freaking kidding me??? He started asking me questions like, "Where were you? Where are you going? If you were with your husband then why is he driving separately?" So I got a little pissy with him and he was getting pissy with me and I got a citation, which I am going to fight. He won't show up and I will get off. Hopefully. He had a mini cop with him so I think he was training plus it was the last day of the month and I think he was going for his "quota" and looking for drunk drivers. I was 100% sober, not even cough medicine in me so he needed to say that I did something wrong. And to top it all off he told me that I "barely" stopped at the stop sign and I need to take my time and stop for a longer time next time. WHAT?? What does that mean. There is no law stating that I need to be stopped for 10 seconds. I came to a complete stop, that is all that matters right? Right. Can you tell that I am irritated?

I woke up this morning feeling better and not really caring about the STUPID cop. I was in a good mood. We had our morning with Lewis making a breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon and doing the dishes for me! I had the kids do a couple of chores each, and it was a pretty quiet morning until my phone rang. It was 10:30 and it was the alarm company for the school.

"Hi my name is Amy and I am calling because we got an alarm call from your place of business for the WEST door. Then we got a silent alarm for the East door and then someone turned it off. We called the police. Do you want me to cancel them?"

"Yes, Amy this is Kendra and yes please cancel the police. I am heading down now, I will call back if there is an emergency."

So in my pajamas (which are Lewis' sweats and a t-shirt) and flip flops I jump in the car and head down. When I get there 2 teachers are there and they say that a man left the WEST door and got into a red car just as they were entering the building. Great. So I check the building and all of the rooms are locked, and none of the computers are gone. So it was one of two things:

1. A teacher did not want to take the 10 seconds to drive around to the EAST entrance of the building and turn off the alarm so they thought that they could run in and out in enough time (and if this is the thing that happened I will be so mad because this is what always happens and ruins my night/weekend/date with husband/nap or whatever I am doing at the time).

2. A stranger got the key (maybe an old contractor or a sketchy key maker guy... I don't know I am not physic... or am I????) and was going in to see what he could get but then saw the teachers and chickened out????

Whatever it was it was over before I got there.

Then when I got home I got onto the computer to check email and play on Facebook, you know the normal stuff, and the boys walk in and say, "Oh! Cool bubbles all over the floor!!" WHAT!!! Lewis and I jumped up and ran into the kitchen. And there was about 2 to 3 inches of smelly bubbles on the floor and about 100 gallons of water! (I had Dranoed the sink earlier) The sink and dishwasher must have backed up into each other and produced a NASTY combo of Drano/dirty water/dishwasher detergent and spit it back out onto the floor. And to top it off the dishwasher was not draining. We got the Shop Vac out and proceed to suck up the offensive water. We get it full and drained it out the back door. Then when we turned it back on to suck up more water all it would do was spray Drano water back out ONTO us. It was not working at all! So we scrapped that and grabbed a ton of big towels to sop up the mess.

So in the past 72 hours I have:

- run out of gas
- been pulled over
- been called to the school for an alarm
- and been ankle-deep and covered in Drano

I guess my weekend could have been worse, and there were a few more bad things that happened, but I think you get the point. I actually had lots of fun stuff happen too, and I will post about those later once I am in a better mood.

Whens My Vacation???
My camera plug is missing so I can't charge my camera to get the pictures off, so there has been no posts this week. I have a bunch to update about but no pictures to go with it, so until the charger is found (I have my boys scouring the house looking for it, with a monetary finders fee to anyone who finds it) there will be no posts.
