Tie Time

Haley decided that she wanted to be a Hogwarts student for Halloween again this year. She already has a costume that she has used a few times already. She got worried that with Lewis traveling so much with work lately that he would not be around on Halloween to tie her tie. She came and asked me to do it, and yes I admit, I never learned to tie a tie! My dad and brothers all wore ties to church every Sunday while I was growing up, but I never did, so I never learned.
She was becoming increasingly stressed about the situation, as only 11 year old girls can do. She decided to take the situation into her own hands. Thanks to a wonderful thing called Google she was able to look up a tutorial and learn to tie her own tie. I am very proud of her for figuring it out on her own. One less thing for me to do today.

Haley Turns 11

She is finally 11!!! Her birthday was so much fun. The night before we took her and a friend to go cosmo bowling. They were there singing karaoke until after 11 pm! Then they had a sleepover. In the morning she got balloons:

And money from Grandpa and Grandma Balmanno:

Then for breakfast she wanted some of these:

Notice the gorgeous pink hair!!

After her friend left Haley opened her gift from Grandma and Grandpa Simon. She got DC Cupcakes stuff. She got an apron, and some cookbooks.

So we had to make red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.

Happy Birthday Haley!!!

Hair Time

Haley has been begging to have pink put back into her hair. We tried it with a kit that said you didn't need to bleach first and it didn't work; the first or second time. So we bought a new kit and bleached the hair first. Here she is all bleached out:

She chose what part of her hair she wanted colored. Her original color is the light brown on the left and then the bleached is on the right.

We then added the color. We had enough left over to put some on Abi's hair too.

Oh! You want to see the final product? Okay next time. I need to download the pictures :)

Breakfast

I have been trying new things in the kitchen since we moved. I have time during the day so I try out new recipes.
On this particular morning I put a slice of turkey or ham, a quarter piece of cheese, and then cracked an egg on the top.
They came out looking like this:

They could have been cooked a minute less, but they were good. I added a couple of hash browns and a kiwi. Lewis said it was good and I liked them. Now I just need to try them out on the kids.

Halloween Treat

I made this little treat for the family last week. It has crushed Oreo cookies on the bottom, then chocolate pudding, then topped with whipped cream and two chocolate chips for eyes.

Abi felt that she needed to give the treat bunny ears. Funny or not so funny if you ask her was that she lost her treat for misbehaving. Oops. I told her she could have one the next day but she forgot so Jason ate it. Oops again.

CC

Adam has been running CC this season. It is his first time and he seems to be enjoying it. We took the girls to see one of his races. CC is so funny because it starts and then it is over 20 minutes later.

At this particular race Adam PR'd. We were very proud of him.

Union Soldier

Haley went on a field trip with her class to learn about the Battle at School House Ridge. She played a soldier that was really there. She had a good time learning about the civil war.

They shot the cannons for the kids to see:

And they learned all about the cavalry.

It was a fun and interesting day.

Halloween Decorations

I put out my Halloween decorations. This house is set up so differently than our last house so all of my decorations need to find new homes. I am having a tough time finding spots for all of my things but I am working on it. I have rearranged a couple of times so far, and I am pretty sure that I will be rearranging again.
Unfortunately I do not have a Tai Pan here to buy new things. In fact I don't have much near me in terms of shopping so buying new decor is hard. I might just have to take a trip back just to fill a suitcase with Christmas stuff.
