We decided that we did not want to spend a lot on Adam's birthday this year. I have been money conscious this year and have not wanted to spend much if any money since Christmas. So we told him to pick a friend to do something small with. He still wanted to have a family party with the neighbor kids. Of course we need to do that. Those kids are an extension of my own. We can never have a birthday without them coming over for cake, or in this case donuts. Anyway, I wanted this birthday to be inexpensive. Here is the breakdown of the costs:
Cost for Home Party with neighbor friends:
Pizza $10.00
Donuts $6.99
Decorations $8.00
Total $24.99
Cost for Jazz game with 1 friend:
Subway dinner $15.00
Jazz Tickets for 3 $120.00
Snow cones $10.00
Popcorn and soda $ Free
Total $145.00 Minus cost of selling my season tickets $80.00 so real Total $65.00
Boondocks passes $26.00
Pizza and soda $20.00
Total $46.00
Total $135.99
He wanted to go to Bouncin' Off The Walls with 21 of his closest friends. That would have been $200. Hmmm. Maybe next year we do the big party! Although the Jazz game was an experience that can't be beat.

Wow! Way to budget and still have an amazing birthday! That is impressive.
I am right there with you. I think people tend to go overboard on their kids parties and it's just not worth it. But I bet next year Adam would be in heaven to go a place like bouncin off the walls... And THEN it would be worth every penny!
