First Day of School!!!

The kids started school at the end of August. Adam was headed into 10th grade. This is the best that I could get. And it is a good thing that he doesn't read this blog. I told him that I wasn't going to post it. His bus comes at 7:01 am and nobody wants to be up that early, especially me. I get up each morning with his anyway. I am a stay at home mom now, and that is what we do.

Jason surprisingly was okay with the pictures. I snapped 2 of them really quickly. He is going into 7th grade. He rode the bus for the first time and it comes at 7:12 am. Again, too early to be leaving the house.

Abi got up without an alarm and was eating fruit and hot chocolate before I even got Haley out of bed. She wanted curly hair for the first day.

Haley finally joined us in the kitchen for some hot chocolate.

The girls are always more than happy to pose for a few photos. Isn't she getting to be so pretty?

And this one is such a poser!

And of course

they had to have some

with Mojito!

Here they are ready to go!

Their bus doesn't come until 8:15 am so they actually get to sleep in this year longer then all of their past school years.

I need to note that this guy was very upset while the girls waited at the bus stop (it just happens to be right in front of our driveway). He sat in the window waiting while all the kids sang:

How much is that doggie in the window?
The one with the waggly tail?
How much is that dogie in the window?
I do hope that dog is for sale!

If you look very closely at the window on the left you can see his little head. Watching and waiting for me to join him inside.

What cute kids I have! Now what the heck am I going to do with all of this free time? I have not been a stay at home mom in 8 years and I don't know if I am going to be be very good at the job. I guess only time will tell.

Friends

Abigail made friends immediately in our new neighborhood. By the time we lived here a week she was putting on plays and musical dance recitals with the neighborhood girls for all of the parents. Luckily the "show" only lasted an hour :)

Love this girl!

So you might notice that we have lots of pictures and posts of Abigail and not much of the other kids. The other kids are going through a I HATE PICTURES phase. The boys have been going through it for a few years now but I think the move made it worse. I will post some when they smile for me :)

Historic Harpers Ferry

Our first Sunday in West Virginia we took the kids to Historic Harpers Ferry. We rode the bus down to the town on the river and walked around. Since we went on a Sunday morning most of the stores were not open. We walked around for a while by the river then up the road by the shops. We stopped and went into a few places and then stopped for ice cream.

This cat was tied up outside the ice cream shop. Lewis told me to suck it up and just get a cone and enjoy it. I was having heart palpitations because I know that this is not a ServeSafe restaurant. But despite my better judgments I got the ice cream and sat down to eat. Once we were served the "cook" came out with a cigarette IN HIS MOUTH and picked up the cat. He played with the cat and then CARRIED THE CAT BACK INTO THE KITCHEN!!! I am just happy that I decided that we didn't need to eat lunch.

Lewis enjoyed his cone!

Luckily nobody got sick, but I am definitely not eating there again!

Driving Cross Country

We left on a Tuesday and drove about 8 hours. We had booked all of our hotels so that we would have a definite end to each day. All of the hotels were Marriott owned with suites. Here is my bathroom the first night. the door almost scrapes the toilet. They could not have set that toilet any closer.

Here is a picture of Abi with Mojito. The girls fought to have him sleep with them but every single night he slept in my room with me. He did spend time sitting in their beds with them.

These are all of the pictures that I took with my camera. We were driving for 4 days and staying for 4 nights in hotels. All of the hotels looked the same and all of the roads looked the same. We had corn on both sides of us for over 1000 miles. By the time we got to our destination we were so tired of looking at corn Jason just kept saying CORN! CORN! ITS GREEN! SO GREEN!!

We made it. No breakdowns, or problems. Only one day had bad traffic to complain about but even that was only a couple of hours.

On to our new adventure.

I have been considering changing the name of my blog to:

My Life With The Hillbillies

I guess only time will tell.

Girls Day Out

A few days before we moved I took a day with my sis-in-law, and my mom and we went to Park City for the day. We started the day by riding the tram up in the morning for a wonderful brunch. The view was gorgeous.

After brunch we went to paint. We took a class for two hours where the instructor gave us some briff instruction and then just let us go with the paint. Here they are getting started:

Here is my painting as I went through the steps:

The final products:

We had a great time. I would go back and do it 10 more times! It is so interesting how we are all given the same instructions and the same paint but we all ended up with totally different paintings.

Abigail Turns 9!!

Abigail turned 9 about 4 days before we moved so we agreed to have a little party for her before we left. She wanted to take a couple of friends and go to Cowabunga Bay. We met her friends at a little lunch place in Draper for lunch and gifts before going to the water park.

We let Jason invite a friend so of course it was Cash, one of his partners in crime. They had a great time!

After lunch we went to a little cupcake shop for treats before heading to the slides!

Here are the goofy girls that I love! They had a great time.

Do you know how many times that day I heard:
"Abi mustache you a question, but if needed she can shave it for later."

Riding In The Rain

After we moved out of our house we needed somewhere to stay since our new house out east wouldn't be ready for a month. So we moved in with my parents for a few weeks. One of the first days we were there we had a really bad rain storm. The girls were grumpy and tired of being inside so I made them go outside and play in the rain. If you know my girls then you know that at least one of them doesn't like to get dirty and wet but I forced her outside. Guess what? They had a blast. They played on their scooters through the gutters in a foot and a half of water!

They jumped in the puddles. They danced and they had a great time!

Sometimes you just have to get dirty to have a good time.

Fun With Friends

Some of our favorite people came to visit their family in Utah and while they were there we got to visit for an evening. The kids and dad's did fireworks and the mom's got to gossip and chat about the kids. We sure do wish we could see these guys more often.
