White on White Gala

So Wednesday night was the final event. It was a White on White Gala where everything was white and everyone was supposed to wear white. When people complained about the white Infor changed it to Light on Light but I already had our outfits so we just wore white (as did most of the other attendees). As they were setting up we sat on the balcony and watched. The people at the Hilton in Cabo are like a well oiled machine. It was like clockwork. The tables and chairs outside in the reception area were all set up and it looked great. The people working the event were all in black suits and they had a meeting right before.

Here I am all ready and waiting to go down to the party:

As we walked down to the tent on the beach there was a spot where they had photographers taking couple photos that will be sent to us in a few weeks. There was also the opportunity to take a photo with the outgoing CEO, but since we did that last year we just went right on by this year. We got down to the "reception" area met up with the people from Lewis' office. Here we are all looking wonderful in white (except for me, I look strange):

Here is the inside of the tent:

Here is Lewis' recognition from Infor:

My nasty dinner that looked like the lobster was bleeding, the steak was really good though:

Fireworks to end the night:

Picture of some of the Utah crew:

Our feet; my shoes are the lovely blue ones:

Here we are on the beach for "after" photos:

This is the whole Crew, minus four (I think):

After we left and went back to our room the party raged on for two more hours as you can see from our balcony.

WednesDay

Wednesday was a free day for us to do whatever we wanted to on our own. We slept in a little (until 8am) had a yummy breakfast over looking the pool and then took the shuttle into town to go shopping. Shopping in Mexico is funny. At first they say that they won't bargain with you but then when you go to leave the store they are suddenly willing to bargain. We went into the actual mall where they do not bargain at all but then we also went out onto the streets and bargained with the people in the little shacks. We ended up getting everything that I wanted and now I wish that I had bought more. After shopping we took the shuttle back to the hotel and went out to the pool where Lewis took a nap and I swam with the peeps and took pictures of the crew setting up for the White Gala that night, which I will tell you all about in the next post.

TuesDay and Night

On Tuesday we went snorkeling with a bunch of the Infor people. We went out by Lands End to see the arch and then out to swim with the fish!

The boat was going in circles so I missed getting myself with the arch but this wasn't the last time out there...

Sexy!

After snorkeling and lunch we went back to the hotel and went down to the pool. Lewis took a nap and I took in some sun and then went into the water for a while when he woke up. Here we are at the infinity edge:

That night was a free night for dinner so we went into town at 6 with a couple of couples for a little shopping and dinner. We saw this nice place:

HA!!!! No freaking way we ate there. I just took a picture. We ate on the pier at Alexanders. It was nice and air conditioned. Plus the guys could watch the games that were on. After dinner we went to look for a party. We went to Cabo Wabo and The Giggling Marlin. Here we are at Cabo Wabo:

And outside the Marlin. I love how the sign says:
If our food, drinks, and service aren't up to your standards, please lower your standards.
With it being Tuesday most of the places were dead so we headed home to the hotel and hung out by the pool until 1:30. When we got back to our room we had a Talvera tray with a gift card for a Mercado (Artisan Market) that they were setting up in the ballroom the next day. We had $250 to buy whatever we wanted out of jewelry, linens, artwork, and much more. Again most of the stuff was for the ladies. I bought these:
and this:

along with necklaces for my girls. I did not get a picture of my tray, and it is already put away, sorry :(

Monday Night

Monday night they bussed us out to Land's End for a dinner at a country club on the beach. At first we were brought to the Corral (the only thing that it can be called) and I thought no freaking way. There was this donkey mule thing, I think it was actually a burro, that we had a picture with... right before it tried to bite me! People were feeding it beer and it was mad that I did not have one to pour in his mouth. All I have to say is that it is a good thing that I can move my arm fast!

We had to walk a little ways down the beach to get to dinner and they had a carpet set out for us to walk on. It was all very well done.
Once we got there we could see that the country club had also been renamed in honour of Infor. They had professional dancers and everything.

Just some of the seating by the pool

The pool

L to R:
Lance, Jodi, Ross, Tammy, Lewis and Me
We were on the stairs so Lewis looks short although he dwarfs both of these other guys IRL. Below is a picture of the dance floor from the stairs. We did not stay and dance although I would have if anyone wanted too. Everyone had long days in the sun and both Lewis and I had barely slept the first night. I never sleep well the first night that we are somewhere, so we went back to the hotel and Lewis was asleep by 11:30 and I wasn't too far behind at 1 after playing on the computer and watching some television.

Oh yeah!!!! Before bed we did get our nightly gift. It was a Pewter platter with a bowl and spoon with salsa and chips. I am very excited to use it.

MonDAY: Fishing Fiasco and Precious Pools

On Monday Lewis had an early 6:30am meeting and then he was going straight to deep sea fish while I had a massage and hang out at the pool all day.
So first thing at 8am I had a massage. Following the massage you have a steam and then a shower. It was very nice. The steam room is so full of eucalyptus steam that you can't even see your hand in front of your face. When you need to get out they call your name from the door and you have to feel your way out. Then the showers are about the size of a whole bathroom with several shower heads and benches built in. When I was done I walked back to my room and this guy met me:
I love when they make towel animals! So fun!! When I changed into my swimsuit and cover up, I went to the restaurant overlooking the pool and had some seasonal fruit. Then I saw Courtney (one of the wives) and we got spots at the pool to relax for the rest of the day. BTW it was only about 10:15 or so. After a couple of hours Lance and Jodi (who I sang with the night before), and Tammy came down to hang out by the pool just in time to order lunch. We had Lance take these pictures for us:

While we were having a "rough" day sitting at the pool, ordering food, swimming, being served fresh fruit Popsicles, and having our faces misted by the pool guys Lewis,
Jason (Courtney's husband),
and Ross (Tammy's husband)
were out deep sea fishing. A whole big group went from their company and were split into groups of 6. Not only did they get the most ghetto boat in the marina (while everyone else got fancy nice boats) they also got a questionable lunch of old stale sandwiches and spinach in zip lock bags. Their boat had no beds and the toilet was right in front of a big window for all to see and if they wanted to flush they needed to pump the stuff down. They came home catching only one fish and miffed that they got the short end of the stick in the boat department.
I thought that Monday was a wonderful, fun day and would do it over again the same way. Lewis on the other hand would have done anything but what he did. Sorry babe!!

Sunday Night

Is anyone else sick of me talking about this day yet? I feel like Sunday went on forever. Or maybe I just took more pictures on the first day, either way this is what? the 4th post about this day that we were only there for what 7 hours? Anyway I better finish it before I make myself sick.
So after a dinner of Chicken or shrimp tortilla soup (yummy!) and a buffet of meats, fish, veggies and desserts we were able to play with a green screen. They had this company at the resort for us to be "bobble heads" and lip sync to a list of songs. They taped and made DVDs for us of each song that we did. It was SO. MUCH. FUN. Now if you work with me or know me very well at all you know that I love music and I will sing and dance all day long if I can. So this was the perfect activity for me. I talked some of the other wives into joining me and we did Barbie Girl. We were so good! It was our first one of the night and it was the best one that anyone did all night. Here we are getting set up. Left to Right is Tammy, Kendra, and Courtney.

Yes I was in the middle! As you all know I do not like to be the center of attention at all but since it was my idea, and I picked the song, and knew all of the words I had to be front and center. It is a shame that I can't show you the videos because I can't get it to download onto my laptop. If I ever figure it out I will post it. It was so good!! Here is Ross' wife Tammy. We had so much fun singing 3 songs together. We did not only Barbie Girl, but also Lady Marmalade with Lance (a guy Lewis works with) and I Will Survive with Jodi (Lance's wife from the Lady M. song).

Now if you do want to see the videos, I have them at home. Just come on over or ask me to bring them with. They are worth a look.

So when the videos were shut down Lewis and I ran (well I ran) up to the room to see what our gift was for Sunday night. See, the gifts are really for the wives and guests. (The CEO admitted it on the last night.) Anyhow I got into the room and this is what we saw:

If you can't see all of it I will tell you what we got. A pool/beach bag (awesome because I don't have one and I did not bring anything for the pool and beach), chap stick, a pre-stamped post card for the kids (which still has not come...), some treats to eat in the hotel room, 2 pairs of Maui Jim Sunglasses (to be picked out for ourselves the next day) with cases, aloe gel, and a big ass bottle of sunscreen. Yes, that is right sunscreen. And I had just spent $24.00 on a tiny spray bottle of sunscreen not more then 4 hours before. Nice. Oh well, no returns in Mexico! Needless to say but we had plenty of sunscreen for the trip, and everyone had a great laugh the next day talking about the famous expensive sunscreen.
BTW: We got our sunglasses the next day and I just happen to pick out the expensive pair worth over $300. Hmmm, usually my taste is not so expensive...

Sunday Afternoon/Evening

Sunday after buying the very expensive sunscreen we went for a walk down on the beach. This is the view from our room, so as you can see we were very close. The fenced in area was a spot where a bunch of turtles eggs are. The resort is watching them to make sure that the babies survive.

My cheesy no make-up self on the beach:

Lewis and Ross, a friend from his office, standing on the rocks. There were tons of crabs scurrying everywhere.

After our walk we went up to our room to shower and change for a dinner by the pool that night. Here is Lewis looking "resort casual".

And myself looking gorgeous as usual... ha!

Sunscreen? I was supposed to remember sunscreen?

After checking in, getting our spending money... oh! I mean food money ($50 - $100 a meal), confirming our activities for the trip and setting our carry on luggage in the room we headed out to the main lobby/restaurant area to grab a little lunch since we were starving. While there we eating with some of the other couples from his office we somehow starting talking about sunscreen.
I thought that I was so set. I thought that I had packed everything and that I was ready. No. I forgot sunscreen. So after we ate we walked down to the "Deli" and got some sunscreen. We paid with one of our $$$ cards that they provided and I thought wow, that was a little expensive. Um yeah. When we looked at the receipt we realized that we had just paid $24 for this:

At first I was mad but then we laughed and decided that not having a sunburn was totally worth $24.00.
And you think that is the end of the story? Well it is not. Because as most of you know (from reading about last year in Italy) we get gifts each night at Club. But in case you did not read last year's blog I can remind you. Each night while we are out having dinner and doing the nightly activity people are turning down our beds and and leaving gifts for us. My next post will be about our dinner, activities, and gifts from Sunday night.
